Before you pick a blog name, you first have to decide on your intended blog message.  If you are stuck on how to name your blog, then you need to answer this first so you can get a clearer direction in naming your website.

You should be straightforward with what your blog will be about. When choosing a name for your blog, you should pick a website name that is not too restrictive if you are blogging about a number of topics.

For example, if you are mainly going to blog about cats, then naming your blog something like catchatter.com would be appropriate.  However, if you want to blog about cooking, gardening and fashion, then you will be restricting yourself by zoning in on such a specific blog name.  If you are fine talking about just one subject, then pick it that way.

Think about your blog down the road.  Pick a name that will grow with you, not something you will have to change down the line because you outgrew it.  So keep in mind your future plans, if you have any.

Remember that your blog name equals the message you are trying to communicate….and also the audience you will bring in. If you don’t have any particular blog message, then choosing a random blog name would work for you and you would have a lot more to play around with.

What will be the purpose of your blog or domain name?  What will be the goal of your blog? Are you trying to help out beginner affiliate marketers, or maybe your focus will be on updating the Ipod user crowd? Who will be your intended audience?  For instance, will your audience be for wine enthusiasts, techie types or fashion divas?  Putting yourself in the position of your desired reader may help you come up with a blog name.

A few other things to ask yourself is if your blog will be treated as a business, personal or just as a hobby? What tone do you want to set?  Will your writing style be serious, humorous, crazy or fun? And lastly, how do you want your blog to be found?  Will it be word of mouth or through regular search engine traffic?

These are some things to consider if you are stuck on how to name your blog…..just first think of what your blog message will be and let that be your starting point to get some blog name ideas.
